E-mail: vkv-viktory@mail.ru Annotation The paper researches fanaticism as a social phenomenon based on the existence of changing beliefs in the human consciousness. The author analyses the approaches towards fanaticism existing in the socio-humanitarian knowledge and considers religious fanaticism as a variant of fanaticism the basis of which reproduces the socio-psychological phenomenon of fanatical faith.
