The great changes in all spheres of life including education which took place in the early 1990s in Russia raised the problem of the social adaptation of teachers of higher education. Adaptability is ensured by the appropriate behaviour of a person. From the point of view of adaptability activities higher education teachers can be considered successful. But the activities of higher education teachers in modern social and economic conditions are generally directed to maintenance of an acceptable standard of life (with actually reduced social status) but not to development.
