Livshits Rudolf Lvovich – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Socio-Political Studies at the Amur State Humanitarian-Pedagogical University, Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Annotation The authour considers ideology not as "false" knowledge but as an illusion caused by the difficulties of the process of cognition and determined by social factors. The paper provides analysis of correlation between ideology and apologetics, and between ideology and mythology. The author offers the criteria for assessment of research texts from the point of their ideological bias.
