Annotation
The article is devoted to the analysis of linguistic means which express communicative strategies of the authors of discourse about Russia in American Newsweek magazine. We describe the character of the discourse (liberal) and its influence on the choice of communicative intentions and language means. The research is focused on Russia's "relations with countries of the "near abroad".
