Annotation
Based on the sources of Russian pedagogical thought of the 1880s – 1930s, the article discusses the problem of the subjective position of a child in the social life and education. Theoretical and methodological foundations of the relevance and expediency of the position are offered. The subjectivity is regarded as the selfmanifestation of person`s individual and social powers, selfconsciousness, activity, which help a person to preserve his/her own ihdividuality in social life.
